To improve standardization of studies measuring Tissue Factor of Microvesicles (TF activity), the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) has published international guidelines in 2019 based ona a careful review of current and historical peer-reviewed publications. Minimally, the ISTH guideline recommends:
- Kinetic determination of Microvesicles - Tissue Factor (MV-TF) dependant factor Xa generation
- Anti-TF antibody to inhibit TF coagulant activity and to ensure optimal assay specificity
- TF calibrator to standardize procoagulant activity measurement
