The 62nd Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) meeting, was held at the Corum conference centre in Montpellier, France from 25th to 28th May 2016.

ISTH SSC meetings provide an opportunity for the international scientific community involved in the exploration of Thrombosis and Haemostasis to meet up and discuss the latest advances in the field, and 2016 was no exception. They are also always an opportunity for Stago to reaffirm its position as a global leader in this field.

More than 2000 participants had booked their place for this Montpellier edition, a record attendance for the ISTH, representing an increase of over 30% compared with the previous SSC meeting. More than 500 abstracts were presented, by groups coming from 80 countries. The flow of delegates along the aisles of the Montpellier conference centre never let up, bringing a constant stream of visitors to Stago’s stand, where we were showcasing our new Thrombin Generation analyser, the ST GenesiaÒ.

As part of this event, Stago organised a scientific symposium on the latest clinical advances in Haemostasis. An unqualified success for Stago, the program included the following three presentations, each delivered by a speaker of international renown:

  • Recent advances in the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism
Prof. Guy Meyer, Georges Pompidou European Hospital (HEGP), Paris, France
  • Contribution of Thrombin Generation assay to patient management in clinical practice
Prof. Philip de Groot, University Medical Center, Utrecht, The Netherlands
  • Coagulation testing for the DOACs: when and how?
Prof. Jeffrey Weitz, McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, Canada

The fact that more than 250 delegates attended our symposium, held in the Corum’s large Einstein amphitheatre, proved yet again the scientific value of these Stago events.

Next year’s 26th biennial ISTH Congress will be held at the CityCube Berlin, from 8 to 13 July 2017. And Stago will of course be there!
